  • What Is Parent Coaching?
There is a better way of learning new parenting skills that can lead to true transformation in your family without shame, guilt, or frustration. Hiring a certified parent coach to partner with you as you make small, but highly impactful changes is one of the best ways to realize your dreams and goals for your family. A PCI® Certified Parent Coach has gone through extensive and rigorous training in a graduate level program and can share the latest research-based practices to support your child’s physical, emotional, and spiritual growth.
  • Who Is Parent Coaching For?
Anyone with children! This is the truth. Parenting is complex in its challenges, and every parent can benefit from the support of a PCI® Certified Parent Coach. Each parent brings their own unique issues to the table; trouble with boundary setting, power struggles, tired of yelling/nagging, teens and risky behavior, screen time overuse, etc. The best way to figure out if parent coaching is for you is to schedule a consultation call. This is a free 30-minute call with Cindy in which you will have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and to learn more about the process. In addition, you share your circumstances, and together, we can decide whether we are a good fit. There are certain situations that aren't best served through parent coaching, so this is an important and informative step.
  • What is The Process Like?
Over the course of a 3 month period, we will have 6 bi-weekly conversations either by phone or Zoom. I help you clearly define your goals and dreams for your family. Each session builds on the ones before it, and throughout the process, I listen intently, ask thought-provoking questions, and offer kind, non-judgmental support. We will create action steps each week that are designed to get you closer to actualizing your dream. In between sessions, you will receive a thorough write-up along with relevant resources, and you will be provided with support in between sessions as needed.
  • How does this parent coaching thing work anyway?
Great question! The parent coaching process begins with a free ½ hour consultation with your coach. This will be done over the phone and will give you and your potential coach an opportunity to determine if you are a “good fit.” If you both decide it makes sense to get started, you and your coach will design a coaching plan tailored to your needs. Most clients find that 8-12 weekly or bi-weekly sessions are ideal. Each session lasts approximately 1 hour and can be done by phone or Skype. (Sessions can be done in person if needed.) Each week you and your coach will review the prior week and discuss current successes and challenges. You will leave each session with a specific set of action steps to take to begin to make the transformational changes you want for your family.
  • Who can benefit from parent coaching?
Anyone with children! This is the truth. Parenting is complex in its challenges, and every parent can benefit from the support of a PCI Certified Parent Coach®. Each parent brings their own unique issues to the table; trouble with boundary setting, power struggles, tired of yelling/nagging, teens and risky behavior, screen time overuse, etc.
  • Does it really work?
It does, especially if you commit to the process. I can’t promise you that your kids will act exactly how you’d like 100% of the time, no one can do that. (And if they do, you should run for the hills!) Through your weekly/bi-weekly sessions with your coach, you will inevitably see improvement in your relationships with your children. You can expect to gain confidence in your parenting and with that will come a sense of ease and joy that are truly transformational. • What are the typical outcomes for your clients?
Parents reach out to me because they know things aren't going well at home, but are at a loss on how to go about fixing it. The usual comment I hear is, "We've tried everything." Lack of cooperation, disrespectful communication, minimal structure, difficulty setting and holding boundaries, strained relationships, and screen time struggles are some of the issues we tackle. Through coaching, parents learn why these areas aren't working and are taught transformational strategies that start turning things around in their home. Most parents start seeing positive changes within the first week and by session 6they are close to, if not already, living their dream reality!
  • What if we still want to work with you after the 6-sessions are completed?
Fortunately, the majority of my clients leave the process confident to try things on their own, but if you want more support here are a few ways this can happen: Have a "tune-up" session. These are only available to clients who have already been through the 6-session new parent program. Join my virtual support group. This is a bi-weekly group for parents. I cover a topic and then we open up for discussion and Q and A. Sign-up for my workshops.
