Like most of you who found your way to my site, I am a parent. I have spent the last 22 years trying my best, along with my husband, to raise our 3 sons who are now grown and almost flown! Prior to becoming a mom, I was an elementary classroom teacher. I spent 9 years in this profession, and I really believed that all of that experience working with children would make parenting a breeze. Unfortunately for me, the universe had other plans. I found myself overwhelmed, frustrated, hopeless, and defeated more times than I care to admit. My husband and I tried it all; consequences, rewards, time-outs, praise, bribes, and yes , lots of yelling. We were both desperate to make things better, but were at a loss on how to go about it. I became obsessed with learning as much as I could about parenting. I read books, articles, talked to experts and scoured the internet. I learned a lot and we were able to make small changes in our parenting that, over time, had a large impact on how our kids responded to us. Things weren’t always perfect, but we were successful in reducing our daily stress and improving our relationships with our sons.
I felt compelled to share what I had learned with any other mom who confided in me that they were struggling. I loved being able to help someone else potentially have an easier path than I had. I often thought to myself that I wish I could package up what I had learned in some way and share it with as many parents as possible. Flash forward to the summer of 2017. I stumbled across a Parent Coach website and instantly became curious. After reading more about it, I knew this was something I had to pursue. I researched all of the different programs that offered certification and ultimately chose PCI because it most closely aligned with my values and seemed to be the most thorough program out there.
After a year of on line classes, multiple books and articles read, and 100 hours of pro bono coaching, I graduated PCI and earned my certification.
I live on the east coast in the Baltimore area. In addition to my 3 sons, I am also mom to 2 dogs that I am mildly obsessed with. I love spending time with my family whether its sitting on our big leather couch watching a movie, or the precious 1 week of each year we spend in our happy place, Stone Harbor, NJ. My husband and I are both Penn State alumni and this year we proudly passed the torch onto one of our sons who is now a freshman there. I love what I do and am blessed to have found my purpose. It is a true privilege to be able to help parents find the joy in parenting again, and to play a part in the transformation that happens through the parent coaching experience.
If you are a struggling parent, I’d be honored to be a part of your journey!
